From 1 January 2014, new regulations will require
all businesses, including voluntary organisations, to separate key
recyclable materials
- including paper and card, plastic, metals and glass - for
collection for recycling. Organisations in non-rural areas which are
involved with food production, food preparation or food retail,
including social enterprises, will also be required to separate food
waste.

The Scottish FA Coach Education pathway has been
restructured for 2013 following the accreditation process with UEFA.
As you’ll see from the diagram in this
link, the
most obvious change is the merging of what previously were the
“Youth” and “Adult” pathways, into one Main Structure.
This new main structure covers ages 13 and over.
What was the Level 4 Youth Award now becomes the C licence
(those with a Youth Award are now eligible to able to attend the B
licence). Coach Education Cards (similar to a credit card) will
replace certificates in all bar physical preparation courses. These
cards will have the coach’s details, their most recent qualification
and unique Coach ID number. You will find all courses that are being
delivered both in the South East Region and across the Country
advertised on our website. Included in the events section you will
find all our player pathway in-service dates, Regional Coaching
Conferences and Positive Coaching Scotland workshops.
For your reference, the annual conference which will take
place at the Braidwood Motor Company Stadium, Livingston on Sunday
the 28th of April.

New 3G Pitch at
Meadowbank Sports Centre |
|
The City of Edinburgh Council and Edinburgh
Leisure are pleased to announce that a new
FIFA 1 Star 3G synthetic
pitch is being installed at Meadowbank Sports Centre. The new pitch
is expected to be available for use from March 2013.

With a large proportion of the funding
coming from the Scottish Government’s Proceeds of Crime Fund,
Cashback for Communities, and a main focus of the City of Edinburgh
Council being on club development and school/club links, the Council
would like a key club partner to have a substantial opportunity to
use this facility. The type of club they are looking for is a
club who has attained the Scottish FA Quality Mark (Community Club
status) or is working towards this level. This would mean the club has a clear pathway
for youth development into the adult game and caters for the girls’
and womens’ game. |

|
The Scottish FA is committed to support the strong quality growth of
non- professional football across the country. At the heart of
achieving growth in the game are Scotland’s Quality Mark clubs, who
offer players from all over the country the opportunity to regularly
participate in structured league and club based activity. The
guide will tell you about the “Growing our Game” funding programme,
who can apply, what types of projects can be funded and what costs
can be included in applications. It is important that you read this
before you fill in the application form. Please note that this
funding avenue is only available to SFA Quality Mark accredited
clubs.

Coach Education Structure
|
The current level 1 Club Coach Certificate will
cease to exist as of January 2012. (Currently a 2 day course at a
cost of £55) All coaches in receipt of a club coach certificate will
still be eligible to progress to a B licence up to 2015, using the
existing club coach certificate as the course pre-requisite. When
the new coach education structure kicks in, any coach with
aspirations of doing a B licence that does not have a club
certificate will then need to attend the following courses as a
pre-requisite to the B: Development Activities Course (1 day,
£35) Coaching Youth Footballers (2 days, £45) Coaching in the Game
(2 days, £50) C Licence (5 days, £210). Full course details
can be found

Is your Club looking for Funds? |
|
...... then you
should strongly consider applying for a 2014 Community Grant.
What is 2014 Communities grants programme?
2014 Communities is a micro grants programme, offering local sports
clubs grants of £300 to £2,000 to support and stimulate grass roots
involvement in sport and physical activity.
Is your club eligible?
They can offer grants to sports clubs who can meet one or more of
the following criteria.
* More people take part in sport or physical activity.
* More people volunteer in sport or physical activity.
* More people and communities are brought together through taking
part or volunteering in sport or physical activity.
They would like the projects they fund to reach people who are less
likely to take part in sport or physical activities who are listed
below.
* Getting more women and girls to take part in sport or
physical activity.
* Getting more disabled people to take part in sport or physical
activity.
* Getting more older people (over 50 years old) to take part in
sport or physical activity.
* Getting more younger people (under 25 years old) and older people
to take part in sport or physical activity together.
* Getting more people from black and minority ethnic communities to
take part in sport or physical activity.
You must be able to complete the project and spend the entire grant
within a maximum of twelve months of receiving the grant payment. A
decision will be made within 20 working days of a completed
application. Your project does not need to meet any of these to be
offered a grant but if we do not have enough funds to support all
the projects we would like to, we are more likely to fund those that
meet one of our priorities.
How can you apply? For application forms and more information go

Vote for Sport |
|
Sport is
Scotland's greatest social movement; inclusive of age, gender, race
and creed; uniting communities and inspiring a nation. Scotland is
world renowned for our passion for sport, yet this isn't reflected
in the priority sport is given with those that represent us. Sport
liberates potential - it allows individuals to take part in, and to
be part of, something that is greater than themselves. Sport gives
people the opportunity to interact, respect and support each other.
Sport recognises these benefits but now is the time for sport to
show how much it can achieve off the field of play. Sport liberates
potential - let's reach that potential together, as one Scotland.
VoteforSport aims to show Government and politicians alike
that we, the people of Scotland (and Edinburgh), recognise and
encourage the value sport plays in society and by pledging your
support today you too can add your voice for sport and to the more
than 900,000 men and women that regularly participate in sport in
Scotland.
Go to
http://www.voteforsport.com/ and have your say on the role of
sport in Scotland in the future. |
