Weather warnings
With the first storm of the year being predicted for the weekend, teams should be aware of procedures for games being possibly cancelled.
In Edinburgh, East Lothian & Midlothian the local authority is sometimes too quick on a Friday to cancel pitches based on a forward forecast and that forecast sometimes being wrong, so teams then complain about having no fixture whilst the sun is shining on the Sunday!! However their decision is final.
So, for the forthcoming weekend let’s be sensible about playing games.
If a team wishes to cancel a game because of an unplayable pitch or the weather conditions, you must contact the League Secretary first to seek permission for cancellation.
The appointed referee or a local referee may be able to check the pitch early and to make a decision on the pitch, a simple playable or not playable. The League Secretary must be informed immediately of such a referee decision.
Teams cannot call off games. The League Secretary must authorise.
